Allen Iverson is one of my all-time favorite athletes, so it hurts to see his career in something of a free fall.
Yet as my friend Nick Davis says, "Mr. Reap, meet Mr. Sow".
For years Iverson has behaved as if he was the center of the universe. When he was in Philly he was. He has nobody but himself to blame for leaving Philly. Let's go back to 2005, his last first team All NBA season. At that time coach Jim O'Brien gave him free reign and respect. But rather than have O'Brien's back when Billy King axed him, Iverson was silent.
It's a shame, because even more than Larry Brown, O'Brien understood Iverson's game, and how to utilize him to the fullest. In O'Brien's world, he wanted to have a three headed perimeter attack led by Iverson. For it to come to fruition, he wanted to trade Samuel Dalembert for Joe Johnson, and get the now financially challenged Antoine Walker's expiring contract instead of Chris Webber's albatross.
As Allen figures out his next move, I wonder if he thinks about what a team with him, Andre Iguodala and Joe Johnson would be doing now.
One thing I know for sure is, Joe Johnson sure ain't looking back.

About this blog:
POSRO isn't a household word in American culture, but it has been featured in publications as varied as The Source magazine and The New York Times.
For those of you that know--and those of you that don't--the name is a play on the word NEGRO. We took away the NEG-ative prefix and replaced it with a POS-itive one. We "Reversed The Charges" so to speak.
Reversing the negative charges in the thought processes that go into the coverage Black people receive in the media, even in the age of Obama, is what this blog is all about.
The subject matter will vary as the mood hits me One day I may be talking sports. The next day local news in Trenton, NJ. But no matter what I talk about, I promise to be honest, respectful and entertaining. I hope you enjoy reading in the days, weeks, months and years to come.
