Reverse the Charges

Slam Dunk 2009: What's Next? Trampolines?
by Roland Laird
Feb 15, 2009
Nate Robinson is a helluva athlete. There's no denying that.

But after watching him vault Dwight Howard gymnastics style on one dunk, and actually jump off the back of Wilson Chandler on another one, I'm really wondering what the criteria for winning the dunk contest is? Remember in 2006, Robinson beat Andre Iguodala after missing no less than 14 dunks.

How could Robinson win, after Howard dunked on a 12 foot rim?

Again, Robinson is an amazing athlete, but what's going to be his next trick? A trampoline? Or maybe they'll just shoot him out of a cannon.

Rol,
The dunk contest no longer caters to true bball fans! It seems to be an attempt to entertain casual fans! Howard dunked on a 12' rim for christsakes! I thought DrJ's and MJ's dunks from the "foul line" were great! However I acknowledged that neither guy leapt from behind the foul line! DW legitimately dunked on a 12' rim!!

About this blog:

POSRO isn't a household word in American culture, but it has been featured in publications as varied as The Source magazine and The New York Times.

For those of you that know--and those of you that don't--the name is a play on the word NEGRO. We took away the NEG-ative prefix and replaced it with a POS-itive one. We "Reversed The Charges" so to speak.

Reversing the negative charges in the thought processes that go into the coverage Black people receive in the media, even in the age of Obama, is what this blog is all about.

The subject matter will vary as the mood hits me One day I may be talking sports. The next day local news in Trenton, NJ. But no matter what I talk about, I promise to be honest, respectful and entertaining. I hope you enjoy reading in the days, weeks, months and years to come.

    Allen Iverson 101
Had the stars been aligned differently, Allen Iverson could have been just another young black man who had a run-in with the law. Instead, the story of his rise to prominence represents the point of intersection between the Civil Rights era and the hip-hop generation. For this reason, combined with his ability and willingness to always be true to himself without care for how his image is portrayed in the media, Iverson is the most interesting—and quite possibly the most important—athlete we’ve seen since Muhammad Ali.
