My Image Studios

My Image Studios (MIST) -- www.mistnyc.com -- is a 20,000 square foot convergent entertainment center specializing in the African and Latino Diaspora. It will be located in the Kalahari Condominiums, the largest mixed-income, mixed-use green condo development in NYC. The entertainment center – which will create 85 new Harlem jobs and consists of three theaters, upscale concessions, a full service restaurant and bar, and post production facilities for video and filmmakers – is designed to appeal to tourists and city residents alike in an area that is generating three times the population growth than the rest of the borough. When it opens MIST will be the first green, convergent entertainment center in the United States.

Posro Media CEO Roland Laird is the co-founder and Managing Director of My Image Studios. His partner is Full Spectrum on NY, developers of the Kalahari.

Reviews of previous edition:
From the arrival of the first slaves in colonial Virginia to the Million Man March on Washington, Still I Rise is an amazing condensed cartoon chronicle of African Americans that's aimed primarily at adults and prefaced with an introductory history of black cartoonists. [Grade] A- (Entertainment Weekly)

"In comic-book form, this nonfiction work presents American history from the African American viewpoint and offers nuggets of little-known information on the impact of African Americans on American history. Though it is impossible to offer a comprehensive history in 206 pages, the Lairds, publishers of The Griots, a popular Afrocentic comic strip, and freelance artist Bey have done a credible job of raising issues of concern to all Americans." (Library Journal)

    Allen Iverson 101
Had the stars been aligned differently, Allen Iverson could have been just another young black man who had a run-in with the law. Instead, the story of his rise to prominence represents the point of intersection between the Civil Rights era and the hip-hop generation. For this reason, combined with his ability and willingness to always be true to himself without care for how his image is portrayed in the media, Iverson is the most interesting—and quite possibly the most important—athlete we’ve seen since Muhammad Ali.
